FISHERSVILLE, Va. -- Garry L. Bruce,
70, of Verona, Va., formerly of Atlanta, Ill., died June 12, 2012,
at Augusta Health.

FISHERSVILLE, VA — Garry L. Bruce, 70, of
Verona, Va., formerly of Atlanta, Ill., died
Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Augusta Health.
Surviving Mr. Bruce are his mother, Gerthel of
Decatur; his wife, Carol Henry Bruce of Verona,
Va.; one son, Brian (Jeannette) Bruce of Stuarts
Draft, Va.; one daughter, Stacy (Jonathan) Bruce
Iseman of Staunton, Va.; one sister, Sherry (Marvin)
Hulva of Decatur; one sister-in-law, Karen (Daryl)
Cramer of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren: Wade
Surratt, and Dillon, Derek and Karson Bruce; three
nephews: Darrick Hulva, Bruce Pech and Scott Cramer;
and two nieces: Theresa Haas and Brenda Pech Miller.
He was preceded in death by his
father and one sister, Rosemary Pech.
Born April 15, 1942, in Lincoln, Garry was the son
of Gerthel White Bruce of Decatur and the late John
Henry Bruce.
Mr. Bruce was a graduate of Atlanta High
School, graduated from Milligan College with a
bachelor's degree in business administration and
received a master's degree in education from James
Madison University.

He taught at Buffalo Gap
High School for 27 years and then taught at Beverly
Manor Middle School for 10 years prior to
retirement.
He was a member of Staunton Church of
Christ, where he served as elder.
A visitation was held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15,
2012 at Bear Funeral Home, Churchville, Va. A
graveside funeral service followed in Green Hill
Cemetery at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastors Richard
Anderson and Barry Creasey.
