Northern Illinois University to host student recruitment event March 6

[March 01, 2012]  Northern Illinois University will host an undergraduate admissions information session at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Springfield on Tuesday, March 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. Prospective students and their families will have the chance to learn more about the opportunities awaiting them at Northern Illinois University; discover the next steps to admission, financial aid, and scholarship awards; and receive information on NIU's "Research Rookies" program, "Themed Learning Communities" and other engaged learning opportunities.

Kitty McCarthy, associate vice president of student affairs and enrollment management at NIU, says this is a tremendous opportunity for students considering NIU to have questions answered by representatives. "For students and families in more distant areas, like Springfield, it may be challenging to find a day to get to campus," she says. "NIU's off-campus receptions are a great way for students and families to meet with staff, learn more about the programs and opportunities available at NIU, and explore next steps to becoming a Huskie without having to spend time on the road or take time off work."
