[March 03, 2012]  PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) -- Police say a suicide bomber targeted the convoy of a senior politician in northwest Pakistan, wounding at least three people but leaving the politician unharmed.

Police officer Nisar Khan says former interior minister Aftab Khan Sherpao was not injured in Saturday's attack.

Sherpao was passing through the district of Charsadda when the attacker blew himself up near his vehicle.

Sherpao supervised operations against the Pakistani Taliban during the tenure of former President Pervez Musharraf. The Taliban vowed to kill him, and he has been the target of at least two bomb attacks in recent years.
