LCU hosts Bioethics 
							Conversation in February
							Lincoln, IL – Lincoln Christian University will be 
							hosting in a series of “Bioethics Conversations” 
							this spring. The first will be February 29, 2012, 
							from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Restoration Hall room R49. 
							Dr. Lisa Anderson-Shaw will be the first guest 
							speaker. The topic, "A Conversation can Change an 
							Outcome: Communicating Bad News in Difficult 
							Situation" will address communications between 
							patients, families, and physicians.” The Bioethics 
							Conversations at LCU are an ongoing series of 
							topical discussions about bioethics presented from a 
							Christian world view.
							Dr. Anderson-Shaw is the Director of the Clinical 
							Ethics Consult Service at the University of Illinois 
							Medical Center (UIMC) at Chicago. As the director of 
							the Ethics Consult Service, she provides ethical 
							consultation to health care professionals, patients 
							and students. Dr. Anderson-Shaw is also a visiting 
							professor to UIC School of Medicine, Loyola 
							University, Concordia and University of Illinois 
							College of Nursing, teaching on the topics of ethics 
							and heath policy. Additionally, she serves as a 
							Clinical Ethics Consultant for MacNeal Memorial 
							Hospital and RML Specialty Hospital. Dr. 
							Anderson-Shaw is currently working in the area of 
							rural bioethics, neuro-oncology, living organ donor 
							advocacy, and advance care planning in outpatient 
							oncology clinics. Dr. Anderson-Shaw holds degrees 
							from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville 
							(BSN), Indiana University (MSN), Loyola University 
							(MA), University of Illinois (DrPH), and did a Post 
							Doctorate Ethics Fellowship at the Maclean Center 
							for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of 
							Chicago. Dr. Anderson-Shaw seeks to integrate faith 
							and health care, especially in beginning and 
							end-of-life issues. Dr. Anderson-Shaw is native to 
							Petersburg, IL and is a member of the Christian 
							Church of Clarendon Hills, where she worships with 
							her husband and children.
