[March 08, 2012]  FRANKLIN, La. (AP) -- Two men walking across country from opposite coasts ran into each other in south Louisiana.

The Morgan City Daily Review (http://bit.ly/z8tbcR) reports that 23-year-old Andrew Forsthoefel of Chadds Ford, Pa., and 36-year-old George Throop of Vancouver, Wash., met Sunday in Franklin and continued their walks Monday.

Forsthoeful had walked about 1,400 miles since leaving Pennsylvania on Oct. 14. He's listening to people's stories with the idea that everyone's a hero. His blog says Throop was only the third fellow-traveler he's met. The others were some hitchhikers outside Greenville, S.C., and Bong Song -- a South Korean who's bicycling around the world, and whom he met in Pascagoula, Miss.

Throop has walked more than 3,300 miles since leaving Vancouver on Sept. 20, 2009, to inspire healthier lifestyles.
