Obama to talk jobs in NC a day after GOP contests

[March 08, 2012]  WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is keeping up a schedule of weekly visits to politically important states with a trip Wednesday to North Carolina.

Obama will be in the state the morning after Super Tuesday. He's talking about the economy and jobs at a Daimler truck manufacturing plant in Mount Holly, near Charlotte. It's his first visit to a foreign automaker, but bears a familiar theme. The White House says the president will highlight the government's fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks.

Obama promoted his energy agenda in Florida and New Hampshire over the past two weeks.

Obama narrowly carried North Carolina in 2008, becoming the first Democratic presidential nominee to do so since Jimmy Carter in 1976. Charlotte is the site of this summer's Democratic National Convention.
