 Meanwhile, another cold front will push through the
central U.S., supporting scattered showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of the cold front from the Great Lakes through the
central Plains. A chance for severe hail is expected from southern Kansas
into northwestern Oklahoma. Moreover, portions of the upper Great Lakes can expect snow mixed with rain.
Elsewhere, the moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will aid in producing some light rain and showers over eastern Texas, central Gulf
coast and southeastern coast.
Temperaturewise, much cooler weather is in store for the northern and central Plains as a cold front moves through the region. Highs are expected in the 30s and low 40s Wednesday. In contrast, a warming trend will take place over the Northeast through Thursday. Afternoon temperatures are expected to rise 15 to 20 degrees from Tuesday's highs.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Tuesday ranged from a morning low of
minus 15 degrees at Saranac Lake, N.Y., to a high of 84 degrees at Gila Bend, Ariz.
