Margaret A. "Peggy" Wood Pulliam, 80, of Lincoln, formerly of
Effingham, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at 8:30 p.m. at St.
Clara's Manor.

Margaret A. "Peggy" Wood Pulliam, 80, of
Lincoln, formerly of Effingham, IL, died at 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at St. Clara's Manor, Lincoln,
IL.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17,
2012 at St. Laurence Episcopal Church, Effingham. Burial
will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 prior to the
service at the church. Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, is
in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be
made to Harbor Light Hospice, Decatur, St. Clara's Manor,
Lincoln or Trinity Episcopal Church, Lincoln. Online

Peggy was born on May 23, 1931 in Uniontown, PA, the
daughter of Raymond M. and Rena Blanche (Jackson) Wood.
After her mother's death, she was raised by her uncle and
aunt, Dr. George and Nanon Wood. She married Marion F.
Pulliam in June 1958 in Effingham, IL. He preceded her in
death October 24, 1997.
Peggy was a retired teacher and a homemaker. She taught
in Elgin, IL, before her marriage and substituted in
Effingham Unit 40 School District. She was a member of
Trinity Episcopal Church, Lincoln. She was a member of
Effingham County Genealogical and Historical Society, past
member of Helen Matthes Library Board, and a past guest
columnist for the Effingham Daily News. Peggy had a love for
reading and history. |
Peggy is survived by two
children, Gary N. (Diana) Pulliam of Switz City, IN
and Vicki S. (David) Shouse of Lincoln; two
brothers, Raymond M. (Susan) Wood of Manchester, TN
and Harry (Carol) Wood of Fallbrook, CA. She was
raised with cousins, Patricia (John) Hemann of
Shaker Heights, OH and George (Mary Pat) Wood of
Effingham. She has four grandchildren: Jeff (Chris)
Pulliam of Mattoon; Andrea (Larry) Melton of
Charleston; Nikki (TJ) Swarts of Lincoln; Heather
(Jeremy) Knight of Lincoln. She also has seven
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband; stepson, Randy L. Pulliam; and uncle and
aunt, Dr. George and Nanon Wood.
