Lynx bats heat up in Florida

[March 09, 2012]  ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Lincoln College Lynx played two Minnesota teams in Florida on Thursday.

In the first game, taking on Hibbing College, Ryan Rickert (Fort Wayne, Ind.) had his first start of the season, going six innings and allowing only three hits and no runs. Andrew Mosier (Lake Orion, Mich.) and Derek Steiner (Belleville) supplied the Lynx with two RBIs each, sparking the Lynx offense to score 11 runs in an 11-0 win.

The Lincoln bats stayed hot in the second game, as the Lynx had 15 hits with 15 runs scored against Ridgewater Community College. Kenny May (Belleville) went 3-3 with three RBIs, and another Belleville native stood out for the Lynx as Derek Steiner went 2-3 with four RBIs. Anthony Jerrell (Fort Wayne, Ind.) took the bump, going five strong innings, giving up only one run on four hits and picking up his first win of the season.

Lincoln College (4-2) will play Waubonsee Valley on Friday in St. Pete.
