[March 08, 2012]  LINCOLN -- Lois E. Hayes Kavelman, 94, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at 4:15 a.m. at Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur.

Lincoln- Lois E. Hayes Kavelman, 94, of Lincoln passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 4:15 a.m. at Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln with Rev. Glenn Fontana officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. A Rosary Service will be held at 5:45 p.m. prior to the visitation.

Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln.

Lois E. Hayes Kavelman was born on January 5, 1918 in Atlanta, the daughter of Edward P. and Goldie Thompson Gehlbach. She married Richard W. Hayes on August 5, 1939 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on September 14, 1978. She later married Fred Kavelman in 1981. He preceded her in death in November, 1999.

She is survived by one son, R. Michael (Pamela K.) Hayes of Decatur, one daughter, Patricia (Steve) French of Lincoln, four grandchildren: Amy Hayes, Angela Cook, Aaron French, Amanda Vaini, six great-grandchildren: Xavier, Myah, Avery, Sullivan, Gavin and Atton, one brother: Robert Gehlbach of Lincoln, one sister: Virginia Splain of Morris.

Funeral Director

She was preceded in death by both husbands, two brothers: Art Gehlbach and John Gehlbach, and an infant daughter.

She graduated from Lincoln Community High School.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Churches in both Lincoln and Decatur, American Legion Auxiliary 263 in Lincoln, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

She retired from the Lincoln Development Center as a Dental Assistant.

Lois enjoyed her family, shopping and going out to eat.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School in Lincoln or Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur.
