State Auditor General Bill Holland blasted DHFS for its handling of
a five-year, $6.6 billion contract to the state's largest insurer to
administer HMO plans for state employees. Brady has sent a letter
to Illinois Legislative Audit Commission Executive Director Jane
Stricklin, asking for an expedited hearing to be scheduled on March
21. He also sent a letter about the matter to Gov. Pat Quinn.
"After a review of the very disturbing summary and the failure of
the current administration to comply with the procurement code and
provisions of the Ethics Commission, I am calling for the suspension
of the RFP process within this administration until we can take a
much closer look at these findings," said Brady, who is a member of
the Illinois Legislative Audit Commission.
The 44th District senator said he will also be working with
legislative leaders to seek immediate consideration to sponsor
emergency legislation to address the DHFS audit.
