"I was really pleased today," he said. "I didn't throw a whole lot of breaking stuff and really worked on my fastball command and sinker. When I did get guys on, I was able to get the ground ball. That's the one thing I'm taking away from today."
Travis Wood did not fare as well for the Cubs. He managed to get just one out in a six-run fourth. he gave up three hits, two walks and six runs -- five earned. He has yet to have a strong outing in two Cactus League games and an intrasquad scrimmage.
"What happened today was unacceptable," he said. "It can't happen. . It's time to get it going."
