[March 15, 2012]  Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois has provided home-delivered and congregate meals to seniors in Logan and Mason counties for over 35 years. This week the agency announced that an additional option would be added to their congregate meal program for seniors who live in Logan and Mason counties.

HardwareThe South 40 restaurant, owned by Sue Treat and located at 214 Main St. in Easton, has been serving senior meals through the program for several years. Seniors age 60 or older are encouraged to sign up for the program, which provides a meal for a suggested donation of $3. No one is turned away regardless of inability to pay.

Meals are currently available at the restaurant every Sunday for brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Community Action announced that meals will also be available at the South 40 on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. No reservation will be required; however, seniors must sign up with Community Action to participate in the program.

"We hope that this additional option will encourage more seniors to participate. It is important for seniors to be active and socialize," said Angie Jenkins, senior programs director.

Any new or active participant in Logan and Mason County may attend any of the Community Action meal sites located throughout Logan and Mason counties.

Interested seniors aged 60 or older should call the Community Action office at 217-732-2159, ext. 240.
