[March 28, 2012]  The Lincoln Rec Center will bring the house down with an "Old Time Barn Dance" on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. The event is presented by the folks who bring you the Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting Festival. The ever-popular dance caller Ozzie Pearl from Weldon will call a variety of old-time dances, and no experience is necessary to learn and enjoy yourself at this event.

Dances will include waltzes, two-steps and slow dances, and Ozzie will show you everything you know to participate and have fun.

The event is a fundraiser and prelude for the Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting Festival Sept. 14-16 at the Logan County Fairgrounds in Lincoln. Ozzie will also bring the barn dance back for the Saturday evening of the popular September festival, now in its 42nd year.

The Logan Railsplitting Association will host an additional dance before the final one during the festival in September.

The festival will also continue its Friday night Civil War Ball on Sept. 14, and the barn dance will be on the following night, Sept. 15. Additional new features of the festival will be announced soon.

Sponsors are being sought to help offset cost of dances and advertising. Please email admin@abe66.com or call 217-732-8687 to inquire about sponsorship opportunities.

Tickets for this Saturday night will be available at the door. No reservations are necessary. Refreshments will be provided. For more info, visit www.railsplitting.com or call 217-732-8687.
