Illinois country grain prices were
slightly lower on Tuesday afternoon. Corn futures were weakened
by the higher than expected planting pace by US farmers. In
yesterday's Weekly Crop Progress report, the USDA indicated US
farmers had 53% of the nations corn crop planted, compared to
28% last week, and 12% last year.
In Northern and Western Illinois country grain dealers quoted
shelled corn bids mostly 3 to 5 cents lower at 6.35-6.51.
Soybean bids traded 2 to 5 cents lower at 14.68-14.88.
In Central Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn
bids were 5 cents lower at 6.41-6.54. Soybean bids were 2 to 4
cents lower at 14.79-14.95.
In the Southern part of the state, shelled corn bids were 4 to 6
cents lower at 6.53-6.64. Soybean bids were 1 to 4 cents lower
at 14.86-15.06. Wheat bids were mostly 12 cents lower at
6.20-6.43.
