Storms expected later today and tonight

[May 03, 2012]  The National Weather Service in Lincoln released the following weather outlook at 5:52 a.m. for the counties of Cass, Champaign, Christian, Coles, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Logan, Macon, McLean, Menard, Morgan, Moultrie, Piatt, Sangamon, Scott, Shelby and Vermilion in central and east-central Illinois:

Thursday and Thursday night:

Thunderstorms will move into the area from the northwest this evening and continue through tonight. There is a slight risk that some of these storms could become severe, with large hail and damaging winds the primary severe weather threat.

In the counties of Fulton, Knox, Marshall, Mason, Peoria, Schuyler, Stark, Tazewell and Woodford, the thunderstorms are expected to develop and move into the area this afternoon.

Friday through Wednesday:

A frontal boundary will remain over the area with the threat of thunderstorms continuing Friday through Monday night and again on Wednesday. There is a slight risk that storms Friday through Friday night could become severe, with large hail and damaging winds being the primary threat.
