[May 08, 2012]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Monday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

Tyson Foods Inc., up 59 cents at $18.63

Thanks to charging more for its products, the chicken, beef and pork producer's second-quarter profit and revenue rose.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc., up $1.21 at $52.14

Morgan Stanley increased its target for the drugmaker's stock to $61 from $57 citing recent deals that may boost earnings.

Walt Disney Co., up 89 cents at $43.82

The entertainment company said its superhero movie "The Avengers" had the biggest weekend debut ever at $207.4 million.

The Talbots Inc., down 17 cents at $2.61

The clothing retailer said it received a sweetened $211 million buyout offer from private equity firm Sycamore Partners.

Nasdaq

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc., up $20.71 at $58.12

The drug developer said a study of its new treatment for the most severe form of cystic fibrosis produced better-than-expected results.

The Madison Square Garden Co., up 75 cents at $38.69

A Stifel Nicolaus analyst upgraded the sporting, media and entertainment company's stock to a "Buy" rating citing expected growth.

Dish Network Corp., down 38 cents at $30.93

Despite adding more subscribers in the first quarter, the satellite TV provider said its net income dropped 34 percent.

Insmed Inc., up $1.40 at $4.10

The Food and Drug Administration lifted a clinical hold on the biopharmaceutical company's treatment related to cystic fibrosis.
