Lincoln College's Sally Pyne honored by Leadership McLean County

NORMAL -- Dr. Sally Pyne, who serves in
academic advisement at
Lincoln College-Normal, has been recognized
by Leadership McLean County with an Alumni Award for her
professional achievements and dedication to community service within
McLean County. Leadership McLean County is a program of the McLean
County Chamber of Commerce.

Pyne, who has worked at Lincoln College-Normal since 2005, currently
works with the school's Accelerated Bridge to Education program, or
ABE, which offers accelerated bachelor's degrees in a program
designed for the working adult. Professionally, Pyne has
contributed significantly to the field of education in McLean County
for over 25 years in academic advising for students at Lincoln
College-Normal and Illinois State University. Over the course of her
career, Pyne has served as an adviser or mentor for over 3,000
students. She has also been highly involved with professional boards
and associations, such as the National Academic Advising Association
and the Administrative and Professional Council at Illinois State
University. She was a founding member of the Illinois Academic
Advising Association in 2011.
Pyne has also given extensive amounts of her time to community
service. Since 1985, Pyne has volunteered for various causes,
including the Task Force for Hispanic Advocacy, Beyond the Books
Education Foundation, Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, the
Normal Community West High School PTO, the Unit 5 Referendum
Committee, the Bloomington chapter of the Alzheimer's Association,
and Planned Parenthood of Mid-Central Illinois.

Pyne is a 2002 graduate of
Leadership McLean County. In recent years, she has served on the
steering committee for the program and served as a class leader from
2004-2007. In 2012, she will participate in the inaugural mentorship
program through Leadership McLean County.
