 This storm will provide light to moderate rain from the Southeast through the Northeast. Some of this rain will come from thunderstorms that may develop; however, there is only a slight chance that any of these thunderstorms will be severe.
Meanwhile, a cold front will streak through the upper Midwest from Canada, instigating another round of rain as far south as Illinois. Some of the thunderstorms embedded in this front could become severe, with large hail and strong wind possible. As with any strong thunderstorms, tornadoes are also possible.
Also, a weak low pressure system will move through the West, but this storm will be lacking any significant moisture. Thus, the main effect of the system will
be to provide a few degrees of cooling.
Dry conditions are anticipated throughout the West, with hot temperatures in the 90s and 100s expected in the Southwest.
The Northeast will rise into the 70s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and some 90s. The Southwest will rise into the 90s and 100s, while the Northwest will see temperatures in the 80s.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday have ranged from a morning low of 21 degrees at Kremmling, Colo., to a high of 102 degrees at Palm Springs, Calif.
