Clemens trial resumes with more from ex-trainer

[May 21, 2012]  WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Roger Clemens perjury trial resumes with the final day of testimony from Brian McNamee, the government's key witness.

McNamee, Clemens' former strength coach, says he injected the former pitcher with steroids and human growth hormone. Defense lawyers tried to portray McNamee as a serial liar over several days of cross-examination.

Prosecutors will finish their redirect questions of McNamee on Monday.

The judge is expected to rule on a government motion to allow previously barred evidence that shows McNamee supplied drugs to other baseball players who have since acknowledged they used them.

Clemens is accused of lying to Congress in 2008 when he said he never took steroids or HGH.

The trial is entering its sixth week.
