Two charges have been filed against him: unlawful
use of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm. On Friday,
when Landstrom was brought before Judge Thomas Harris for his first
hearing, Harris indicated that the charges warranted Landstrom be
tried as an adult. His name, which had previously been withheld, was
then released.
Landstrom did not yet have representation on Friday. He opted for
a court-appointed attorney, and his next hearing was set for Monday.
Today, Landstrom appeared with his attorney Jeffery Page for a
counseling hearing before Harris.
Also present were Landstrom’s parents and the first assistant
state’s attorney, Jonathan Wright.
Harris confirmed with Landstrom that he understood what this plea
meant. Harris then confirmed that Landstrom would like to waive his
right to a preliminary hearing and moved on to hearing Landstrom’s
plea.
Landstrom pleaded not guilty to the charges being leveled against
him.
Harris then asked if Landstrom preferred a trial by bench or by
peers.
Landstrom requested a trial by jury. A court date was not set.
If Landstrom is convicted of the charges, he could face a maximum
of five years in prison with one year of supervised release and a
minimum of 30 months of probation for the first charge, and up to
seven years of imprisonment and two years of supervised release,
with a minimum of up to 48 months of probation, for the second
charge.
