Thursday, students at Central
School learned the art of tie-dye.
It is a known fact that fashion rolls over
from time to time. Tie-dye was a noted fashion statement in
the 1960s and '70s. Today it is making its way back around
and is gaining in popularity among the younger generations again.

Students continue applying rubber bands to
their T-shirts.

When they are finished rubber-banding, it is
time to dip the shirts in blue dye. |

Drop them in and let them soak a spell.

This "upper-class" helper may be having a
little too much fun stirring the shirts in the blue dye!

Students were sent to play or sit in the
shade for 10 minutes, then returned to start wringing out their
shirts.
|
|
|
Instead of trying to unwind the rubber bands,
students learned to just pull on their shirt parts until the bands
popped off.
|
Names were written on the inside collars of
the shirts so everyone knew they got their own shirt back.
