[November 06, 2012]  NEW YORK (AP) -- The stock market is treading water before Election Day.

The Dow Jones industrial average is ending this election eve up 19 points at 13,112. The Standard & Poor's 500 index finishes the day up three at 1,417. The Nasdaq composite index climbed 17 to a hair under 3,000.

A managing director at the brokerage Charles Schwab says the markets are marking time, waiting for the election result.

Among individual stocks, Time Warner Cable lost more than 6 percent after posting earnings that fell short of analyst predictions.

Advancing stocks beat decliners, but just barely. Trading volume was light, about 2.9 billion shares.
