[November 08, 2012]  NEW DELHI (AP) -- British Foreign Secretary William Hague met with top officials in the Indian capital on Thursday to discuss ways to increase trade and investment and to tackle other issues, including terrorism, cyber security and defense.

Hague met with Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid, and the two spoke to reporters later in the day.

"We discussed a lot of trade investment cooperation -- international, bilateral, multilateral -- and I think that's how we see our relationship" in the future, Khurshid said.

"Aid is the past and trade is the future," he said.

India and Britain also agreed to strengthen cooperation on counterterrorism and cyber security, according to a joint statement.

"Both our countries have terrible and tragic experiences of terrorist attacks," Hague said.
