            		ARMINGTON -- Robert "Bob" Israel, 92, 
														of Armington, died Saturday, Sept. 
														29, 2012, at 2:51 p.m. at 
														his home.

							Armington- Robert "Bob" Israel, 92, of Armington 
							passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2:51 
							p.m. at his home. 
 							Funeral Services for Mr. Israel will be held on 
							Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the 
							Armington Christian Church with Mr. Ed Loyd 
							officiating. 
 							Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 
							p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, at the Armington 
							Christian Church.  
 							Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery in rural 
							Armington. 
 							Quiram Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge 
							of arrangements. 
 							Robert Burt Israel was born on August 10, 1920 in 
							rural Armington the son of Ralph Lesley and Leatha 
							Burt Israel. He married Jann Imig Melton on 
							September 7, 1961. She survives. 
 							Also surviving are his children: Wesley (Nancy) 
							Melton of Leroy, Lawrence (Jackie) Melton of 
							Columbia, Md., Mary (John) Papenhause of Tremont, 
							Robert Ralph (Gail) Israel of Tremont, Richard 
							"Pickle" (Kristie) Israel of Armington, 
sixteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one sister, Ollie Tammeus of 
Armington. 							He was preceded in death one brother: Homer Israel, 
							and two grandchildren: Mindi Alicia Melton and Justine 
							Louise Papenhause. 
 							Bob graduated from Hittle Township High School in 
							1940 and then completed a course at Coyne Electric 
							in Chicago. He retired in 1982 from Schertz Hardware 
							in Minier after 41 years of service.

		During his high school years, Bob became "The Scorekeeper" for Armington 
		Grade and High School, and later for Trioka, McLean and Olympia High 
		School boys and girls, which continued for over 60 years. Bob was 
		inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1981, 
		received a Merit Award from Director of Athletic Directors, the Friend 
		of the Game Award from Lincoln Basketball Officials Association, the 
		Interscholastic Athletic Distinguished Service Award for Basketball and 
		was selected for the Olympia Activities Hall of Fame. He retired at the 
		end of the 2000-2001 season, receiving a plaque from Olympia School 
		District for 50 years of scorekeeping. He missed only one home game his 
		entire career. 
		Bob also served on the Armington Village Board from 1945 thru 1972, 
		serving as mayor from 1965 until 1972.  
		 
		He was a member of the Armington Christian Church.
