[October 02, 2012]  Michael Graves, a volunteer for the Logan County Emergency Management Agency, was recognized during the 16th annual Illinois Emergency Management Conference in Springfield Sept. 4-6.

On Sept. 4, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency director, Jonathon Monken, and the president of the Illinois Emergency Services Management Association, Russ Thomas, presented Graves with his certificate for successfully completing the application process for the Illinois Professional Emergency Manager Accreditation Program.

The program consists of completing the Illinois Professional Development Series, additional online and classroom training courses covering a wide variety of emergency management-related subjects, four written essays, and providing documentation that he served in a lead role during a preparedness exercise. The certificate must be renewed every three years.

Graves is also the director of training and exercises for the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System.
