On Thursday, Emden
Elementary School and Hartsburg Junior High students invited parents
and the community to join them for the Fall Family Reading Night.
The seventh-grade social studies class, instructed by Roger Michalsen, dressed as figures from history in order to perform a live wax
museum.
Those in attendance could "press a button," and the seventh-grader
would come to life and give a speech filled with facts about the
figure.
The fourth-grade class performed a reading song for the audience.
Books were available for purchase
at the book fair, and snacks were
offered to visitors.
Fourth-grade teacher Marilyn Wilmert said she was "so excited for
the event and proud of the seventh-graders for their contribution."
But most of all, she was "excited that everyone was enjoying books!"
Principal Terry Wisniewski said that the reading night was
terrific for the school. The wax museum was a great addition to the
seventh-grade curriculum. Overall, Wisniewski was proud of the big
turnout. Students and parents are already looking forward to
the spring reading night.
