ATLANTA -- John S. Drabing, 80, of
Atlanta, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.

Atlanta – John S. Drabing, 80, of Atlanta, died
Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral services for Mr. Drabing will be held on
Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home in Atlanta. Mr. Maurice Stribling will
officiate.
Visitation will be held at Quiram-Peasley Funeral
Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday,
October 12, 2012.
Burial will be in Roaches Chapel Cemetery in rural
McLean. Full military rites will be accorded by
American Legion Post #263.
Surviving Mr. Drabing are his wife, Erma Pauline
Drabing of Atlanta; six children: Lawrence (Susan)
McGuire, Ron (Connie Dugan) McGuire, Rosie Price,
Ruth (Melvin) Henrichsmeyer, Susan (Scott) Reinhart
and Mike Drabing; twelve grandchildren and eleven
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother
and one sister.
John Strange Drabing was born August 20, 1932, in
rural Mt. Pulaski, the son of Richard and Opal
Wilham Drabing. He married Erma Pauline Karrick on
December 31, 1971, in Lincoln. She survives.

Mr. Drabing is a veteran of the Korean War during
which he served in the United States Navy. He was a
proud member of American Legion Unit #263 for which
he served as Commander several times. During his
life, John worked as a foreman at Modine. He also
worked at McCord and Stetson’s. He enjoyed camping,
fishing and especially his family.
Memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad or to
American Legion Unit #263.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home in Atlanta.
