Assistant State's Attorney Bill Workman tells The Pantagraph in Bloomington (http://bit.ly/Va260w) that a psychiatric evaluation found the boy meets the legal requirements of mental fitness. Defense lawyer Art Feldman says the teen has been receiving mental health treatment.
The boy has pleaded not guilty to 14 felony charges including unlawful restraint and unlawful use of a weapon.
Police say the teen was carrying three handguns and ammunition Sept. 7 when he fired the shots at Normal Community High School. A teacher tackled him to the ground and no one was injured.
Normal is 135 miles southwest of Chicago.
