[October 20, 2012]  SPRINGFIELD -- Architect Frank Lloyd Wright's house designs were good -- and in the case of the Dana-Thomas House in Springfield, frighteningly good.

Building on the oral tradition that the Springfield house is haunted, the Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site will host a special Halloween event Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Costumed volunteers will be stationed throughout the house to tell brave visitors about the home's spooky past, and eerie music will fill the dimly lit rooms of the Prairie-style masterpiece. Storyteller Cathy S. Mosley will tell traditional scary tales in the Gallery. No guided tours will be offered, so visitors may wander, if they dare, at their own pace.

The Dana-Thomas House was built between 1902 and 1904 for Susan Lawrence Dana. Both Mrs. Dana and architect Frank Lloyd Wright experienced much tragedy in their lives, lending credibility to long-told, but unconfirmed, stories that the house is haunted.
