Saturday afternoon there was
perhaps the largest crowd ever in attendance for the annual
Trick or Treat with Mayor Keith Snyder.
This year it was noted that there were many adults in the group with their children, and many of the
grown-ups
were also decked out in costumes.
The annual walk around Lincoln included 17
stops at downtown businesses. The group ended their walk at
City Hall, where everyone received candy treats from the mayor.
Immediately following this event, everyone was
encouraged to return to the downtown square for the first-ever
Trunk or Treat. Area
businesses that are not located on the square had the opportunity to
decorate the trunks of their vehicles and pass out candy to dozens
and dozens of kids. Also
going on downtown was a chili supper on the east side of the square. There was traditional red chili, and a special white chili
was also being
sold. Also available were hot dogs for the kids.
The downtown activities this year were a
partnership effort between Main Street Lincoln, the city of Lincoln
and the Lincoln Park District.
