Illinois country grain prices were
slightly lower on Friday afternoon.
In quiet trading, grain futures
drifted lower due to the lack of fresh news to move prices.
In Northern and Western Illinois country grain dealers quoted
shelled corn bids mostly 3 to 5 cents lower at 7.15-7.32.
Soybean bids were 2 to 5 cents
lower at 15.25-15.39.
In Central Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn
bids were 4 to 6 cents lower at 7.26-7.44.
Soybean bids were 2 to 4 cents
lower at 15.45-15.54.
In the Southern part of the state, shelled corn bids were 4 to 6
cents lower at 7.10-7.50.
Soybean bids were 3 to 7 cents
lower at 15.26-15.51. Wheat bids were 6 to 9 cents lower at
8.34-8.54.
Illinois grains-Grain futures ended mixed at the Chicago Board
of Trade, with wheat and
soybeans higher and corn moving lower.
Export news for wheat supported
prices, as it finally became official that the Ukraine would
stop wheat exports on November 15th. Weekly export inspection
figures were very large for soybeans this week at 61.4 million
bushels, though weekly export sales numbers on Thursday were
slightly under expectations, but still very good at 19.2 million
bushels.
The USDA made several
announcements this week concerning sales of US soybeans, so
export demand remains good.
Corn export sales and export
interest remains slow, helping to push prices lower.
The fall harvest slowed this week with several interruptions
from rain showers, but last week farmers stayed busy with
harvest activities.
According to the USDA's Illinois
Weather and
Crops report, from the Illinois Field Office in Springfield, the
Illinois corn harvest had reached 92% complete, compared to 75%
last year and 62% for the five year average.
The soybean crop was 80% harvested
in the state of Illinois, compared to 81% last year and 71% for
the five year average.
Wheat planting was now 69% done,
compared to 46% last week and 66% for the five year average.
There was 29% of the crop emerged,
compared to 34% last year and 32% for the five year average.
Pasture conditions, especially in
southern and central Illinois have definitely helped livestock
producers.
Livestock producers have gotten a
lot of good feed for horses, cattle, goats and sheep the past
several weeks, until a killing frost arrives.
Pastures conditions were rated at
30% very poor to poor, with 31% fair and 39% in good to
excellent condition.
The trading in the cash grain market was moderate. Cash basis
was mixed for the week, but definitely lower at the river
terminals.
Barge freight went up sharply on
Wednesday, as the soybean harvest peaked in the areas to the
south of Illinois, terminal managers had to convince barges to
head farther north to load grain.
The Central Illinois Soybean
Processors cash bids ended 16 to 22 cents higher at 15.66-15.82,
with basis mixed ranging from +2X to +18X.
The Central Illinois Corn
Processors cash bids were down 19 to 24 cents ranging from
7.42-7.57, with basis steady to 5 cents lower ranging from
option Z to +15Z.
At the Illinois River terminals
south of Peoria, cash corn bids ended 29 to 30 cents lower
ranging from 7.22-7.27, with basis down 10 to 11 cents at -20Z
to -15Z.
Cash soybean bids gained 8 to 14
cents at 15.44-15.54, with basis down 5 to 11 cents ranging from
-20X to -10X.
New crop wheat bids for delivery
in July 2013 ended 16 to 19 cents higher ranging from 8.32-8.33,
with basis 1 to 4 cents weaker at -35N to -34N.

At the Illinois River terminals
north of Peoria, cash corn bids fell 25 to 26 cents to
7.22-7.27, with basis down 6 to 7 cents at -20Z to -15Z.
Cash soybean bids were up 8 to 13
cents to 15.41-15.51, with basis 5 to 10 cents lower ranging
from -23X to -12 1/2 X.
New crop wheat bids for July 2013
delivery gained 20 to 26 cents to range from 8.40-8.48, with
basis steady to up 6 cents at -27N to -19N.
At the St. Louis terminals cash
corn bids were down 29 to 39 cents at 7.17-7.18, with soybeans
steady to 4 cents lower ranging from 15.49-15.55.
Cash bids for Soft Red Winter
wheat gained 5 cents to 8.52-8.53 and cash sorghum bids were 18
cents lower to range from 7.12-7.13.
In northern and western Illinois, cash corn bids to producers at
country elevators were 16 to 17 cents lower at 7.19-7.36, with
central Illinois locations down 15 to 21 cents at 7.31-7.49 and
in southern Illinois bids lost 15 to 19 cents to range from
7.14-7.54.
Cash soybean bids in northern and
western locations were 9 to 14 cents higher at 15.27-15.44 with
central Illinois bids up 17 to 20 cents at 15.47-15.57 and
southern Illinois bids were 12 to 19 cents stronger at
15.33-15.54.
Cash wheat bids for Soft Red
Winter wheat in southern Illinois locations gained 4 to 8 cents
to 8.40-8.63.
New crop wheat bids for June-July
delivery in southern Illinois advanced 17 to 20 cents to range
from 8.17-8.37.
