Calling all cars ...

All-vehicle open show Sept. 8 at David Davis Mansion

[September 01, 2012]  BLOOMINGTON -- Vehicles of all styles, vintages and types are welcome to join the second annual Car Community All Vehicle Show, scheduled for Sept. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the David Davis Mansion State Historic Site. The rain date is Sept. 9.

The fundraising event for the David Davis Mansion Foundation is open to the public for a $5 donation, and there is no entry fee for participating vehicles.

The show is sponsored by the Car Community Automobile Club as a day of enjoyment for vehicle owners and enthusiasts. There will be no judging or trophies. The vehicles will be displayed on the grounds of the 1870s Victorian mansion, 1000 E. Monroe in Bloomington.

Food concessions will be offered by St. Mary’s Boy Scout Troop 20, and ice cream will be provided by Uncle Bob’s Homemade Ice Cream. The band Protégé, sponsored by the car club, will provide music. Event T-shirts will be printed on-site by Rutman Screenprinting, and signs and "cool car stuff" will be available from J. Schmidt’s.

Dash plaques will be given to the first 200 show participants. To register a vehicle for the show and reserve a dash plaque, email [e-mail] or call Don or Cindy at 309-378-4391. On-site registration opens at 8 a.m. the day of the event. The plaques are sponsored by State Farm Agent Ron Ruby.

The David Davis Mansion State Historic Site, administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, was built in 1872 and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for public tours. The David Davis Mansion Foundation is a not-for-profit organization supporting education, preservation and acquisition programs for the David Davis Mansion.
