LC (2-5) played a sloppy first set and dropped it 26-28, but
rebounded to take set two 25-22. In set three Lincoln never got
going and trailed from start to finish, eventually falling 16-25.
After a slow start in set four, the Lady Lynx offense got going
behind the direction of sophomore setter Vicky Arriola and several
big kills from sophomore outside hitter Jenna Merkel. LC won the
set 25-19 to force a deciding set to 15. Lincoln carried the
momentum into the final set and jumped out to an 8-4 lead, but a
late charge saw the Trailblazers come back to tie the set at 13-13.
On the next play, Lincoln freshman middle hitter LaTasha Fizer
delivered a kill to put the Lady Lynx in position to win the match.
Her freshman classmate Morgan Lesher finished the job with an ace
serve to seal the victory.

LC coach Mark Tippett commented:
"Tonight's match proved once again what a roller coaster ride
junior college volleyball can be. We had points in the match where
we looked very sharp and made smart decisions. At other times we
made life easy on our opponents with unforced errors and poor
choices.

"This group showed that they are not going to let a bad play
or even a bad set get them down. They proved to me that they
will fight to the finish, which is a fantastic quality for a
coach to see in their team.
"This win was significant in that it gives us a victory over a
Region 24 opponent, which should help us later in the year when we
seed the Region 24 postseason tournament. It also should give us
some momentum and confidence going into the four home matches we
have coming up this weekend."
Lincoln College hosts the third annual Hampton Inn Classic this
weekend. On Friday, LC plays at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Saturday, the
team will be in action at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
