 The few exceptions will include areas along a front in the Plains and Rockies where showers and thunderstorms are anticipated. Ahead of this front, windy conditions are possible, as well as in some of the more intense thunderstorms. More wet weather is possible along a stalled cold front near the Gulf Coast and stretching over Florida.
In the vicinity of the front stretching across the middle of the country, temperatures will be cooler than average.
In the Northeast, temperatures will begin to climb on Wednesday, with highs reaching near normal. Later in the week, temperatures will continue to climb, with readings 5-10 degrees above normal by Friday.
Tuesday's area of above-normal temperatures will shrink substantially as it moves east to the Great Lakes. Highs there will only be 5-10 degrees warmer than average for the most part.
Temperatures in the Northwest will also be a bit above normal from coastal Oregon through northeastern California.
Elsewhere temperatures are expected to remain near normal under clear skies.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday have ranged from a morning low of 25 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 97 degrees at Wahoo, Neb.
