'Paint the Patch Pink': Health department works with community to
promote breast cancer awareness

On Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., Gail's
Pumpkin Patch and the Logan County Department of Public Health,
Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, will co-sponsor "Paint
the Patch Pink" at Gail's Pumpkin Patch, rural Beason. The event is
to increase breast cancer awareness.

There will be a variety of
activities:

Breast cancer
education and information.
-
Special pumpkin
carving display by Renee Hubal.

Pumpkin painting
and stamping.
-
A display of pink
and white pumpkins in the shape of a breast cancer ribbon.

Silent auction
with partial proceeds going to the Pink Pumpkin Patch
Foundation. Funds from the foundation go to reputable
organizations with the highest percentage of dollars spent on

"Miss Pink," a 1970 Dodge Challenger built in 2006 as a tribute
for Illinois State Police Sgt. Sue Voges, who had breast cancer.
