Deputy Chief Michael Geriets of the Lincoln Police Department spoke Monday morning at a news conference at the Logan County Safety Complex. He talked about the training local officers have for dealing with people who are mentally disabled. He along with Logan County EMA director Dan Fulscher and Mark Mann of the Logan County 911 dispatch were explaining the benefits of having a registry of special needs residents. “We want to recognize those issues so we are not taking inappropriate action against somebody who has a mental health disability,” said Geriets.
