William Broyles Jr.'s "Brothers in Arms" was reissued Tuesday as "Goodbye, Vietnam," the author's original choice. In a statement released through the digital publisher Open Road Integrated Media, Broyles says that the title reflected his wish that the tragic lessons of Vietnam would be so well learned that the war could truly belong to the past.
"Brothers In Arms," published in 1986 by Alfred A. Knopf, was adapted into the ABC series "China Beach." It aired from 1988 to 1991. The 68-year-old Broyles helped create "China Beach" and also wrote some of the episodes. His film credits include an Oscar nomination for co-writing the screenplay for "Apollo 13." |
