Spokeswoman Rachael L. Moore says in a statement that six of those hurt Wednesday at the refinery in Beaumont were being transported to hospitals for further treatment. She says their conditions were not immediately known.
The fire happened around 10:30 a.m. in a process unit that was down for maintenance at the refinery.
The company says the fire was quickly brought under control and has been extinguished.
ExxonMobil says all employees and contractors working in the area of the process unit have been accounted for.
