SPRINGFIELD -- The Union Pacific
Railroad, in conjunction with the Illinois Department of
Transportation, will host an information session on Tuesday from 2
to 4 p.m. at the Springfield Hilton. The event will provide details
about general contracting and subcontracting opportunities, scope of
work, qualifications required, and schedule and timing for
contractor bid submissions.

Union Pacific, in conjunction with IDOT, is upgrading about 215 miles of
existing track from Chicago to St. Louis as part of the High-Speed Intercity
Passenger Rail program.

Who: Illinois Department of Transportation and Union Pacific Railroad

What: Union Pacific and IDOT representatives will be available to answer
questions and provide bid qualification information for high-speed rail
contractor bid submissions. Union Pacific Railroad estimates that there will be
$154 million for contract services from 2013 through 2017 to complete work
between Joliet and Wood River.
