The parking lot, swales, water gardens took
shape early.
|
The center was getting underway.
Early guests, blue dragonflies lent their
approval that this would be a
good habitat. |

In the area to the west, prairie is
restored. |
Farther back, about 2,000 feet to the north, is Sugar Creek. The creek
has
gained significant archaeological and biological notoriety in recent
years

The generous donation of land by the Shirley Edwards family makes access to the new Lincoln College Environmental
Education Center possible. |
The center celebrates its first
Earth Day.
Lincoln College President John Blackburn holds a replica of
a sign that dedicates the
center in honor of Dr. Dennis Campbell, who designed and orchestrated
the
project. |
|
Campbell explains how the Edwards family
names were consolidated to create the lane name Small-Edwards Trace. |
The center features three primary structures: the teaching pavilion,
a
greenhouse and insectarium.
