Community Action Head Start begins Logan County student recruitment

[April 22, 2013]  Community Action Head Start, a free program for birth to age 5 for income-eligible families, is recruiting in Logan County for the 2013-2014 program year. Head Start knows that parents are the first and most important teachers of their children and welcomes parents as partners in the Head Start experience.

Head Start is a federally funded preschool program that serves income-eligible families and children between the ages 3 and 5 years. Early Head Start is a child development program for income-eligible families and children that serves pregnant mothers, infants and toddlers to age 3. Logan County Head Start provides center-based preschool services and Early Head Start provides home-based services.

Children do not have to have a disability to qualify. The program welcomes all eligible children.

Additional services, including screenings and access to medical, dental and vision services as well as community services, are what set Head Start apart from other child development and preschool programs. Transportation is also available to children and families to participate and receive full benefit from the program.

The following documentation is required to complete the application:

• 2011 completed tax forms or W-2s

• Copy of child's birth certificate or medical card

• Proof of Social Security, TANF, cash assistance (if you receive it)
