[August 03, 2013]  DANVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- Authorities say as many as 20 children are being taken to a hospital after a charter bus carrying students from the Missouri School for the Deaf overturned in eastern Missouri.

Department of Elementary and Secondary Education spokeswoman Sarah Potter says none of the students has life-threatening injuries. But she says some may have broken bones or missing teeth.

Police say the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Friday near Danville as the bus was exiting Interstate 70.

Potter says 16 to 20 children were being taken to a Columbia hospital. University Hospital spokeswoman Mary Jenkins says at least eight children have been admitted into the emergency room, none with life-threatening injuries. She's expecting 19 patients.

Potter says the students were from the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton.
