U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington, D.C., issued an order Friday. It grants a request from prosecutors and defense attorneys to give Jackson until Oct. 25 before she rules on a government motion to seek forfeiture of Jackson's interest in the family's two homes and a retirement account.
Prosecutors sought the forfeiture in June because they believed Jackson wasn't making sufficient progress toward paying the restitution.
In their request, attorneys said Jackson told prosecutors he will make his "best effort" to pay the money in the next 90 to 180 days.
Jackson and his wife, Sandi, are scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 14 on charges related to Jackson's misuse of campaign funds.
