While the quest for the grand champion steer
is a coveted position for any livestock shower, the fact is, if
you're going to raise good animals, you have to have good mamas.
Thursday morning, the judge at
the Logan County 4-H Beef Show had his work cut out for him as he
examined a large number of heifers in a variety of breeds.
He was careful with his
decisions, taking plenty of time to consider all the factors that
make for a good piece of breeding stock.
In the end, the chose the fabulous animal
pictured above as the grand champion heifer for this year. She
is owned and was shown by Reagen Tibbs.
Before moving to the
heifers, this second part of the beef show also included prospect
calves.
