James Edgar Jones Jr. "Jim", 65, of Middletown, IL., passed away August 4, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

It was Jim's wish to be cremated. There will be no services.

Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln has been entrusted with arrangements.

Jim was born October 3, 1947 in Lincoln, IL., the son of James E. Jones Sr. and Mary (Landers) Jones. He married Sharlet Bryant on June 1, 1974 in Lincoln, IL.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Sergeant in Viet Nam. He was a member of the American Legion in Middletown, IL. Jim was employed at Lincoln Developmental Center for several years. He was an avid race car fan. His favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. Jim loved fishing and playing pinochle, but his family was the love of his life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife Sharlet Jones of Middletown, IL; his daughter Michelle Jones (Shaun Skelton) of Middletown, IL.; his granddaughters Josie Villegas and Serra Skelton both of Middletown; his sister Mary Osborne of Lincoln, IL.; and brothers Mike Jones of English, IN. and Wayne Jones of Merango, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elizabeth Jones, and his brother Jerry Jones.

Memorial donations may be made to the Middletown Fire Department or to the Donor's Choice.
