Copper for September rose 3.6 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $3.3065 a pound. Platinum for October rose $9, or 0.6 percent, to $1,500.60 an ounce and palladium for September advanced $2.45, or 0.3 percent, to $741 an ounce. The price of oil climbed $2.57 to $105.97 on positive economic news from China. Industrial production in the world's No. 2 economy grew 9.7 percent, up from 8.9 percent in June and the fastest in five months. Heating oil rose 4 cents to $2.99 a gallon, natural gas fell 7 cents to $3.23 per 1,000 cubic feet and wholesale gasoline rose 5 cents to $2.91 a gallon.
