James Alan "Jim" Barger, 59, of Chestnut, died Sunday, Aug. 11,
2013, at his home.

James Alan "Jim" Barger, 59, of Chestnut, IL passed
away August 11, 2013, at his home. Visitation will
be held August 16, 2013, 10-11 a.m., at Holland
Barry and Bennett Funeral Home with the funeral
service immediately following at 11 a.m. Pastor
David Ramirez of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln
will officiate. Burial will be at Aetna Township
Cemetery in Chestnut, IL. Military rites will be
accorded.

Jim Barger was born January 17, 1954 in Decatur, IL.
He was the son of Earl and Hulde (Johnson) Barger.
He married Laura Allen on December 23, 1991. She
survives. He was the father of one daughter, Sonja
Barger, and one son, James Barger II, both of
Vincennes, Ind. He is also survived by his
grandchildren Tayleigh Barger, Anayah Duke, and
Hallie Lessen; and five brothers Charles "Rusty"
(Opal) Barger of Delaware, Kenneth (Sally) Barger of
Blue Mound, IL, Scott Barger of Delaware, Carl
(Jenny) Barger of Atlanta IL, and Millo (Rachelle)
Barger of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his
parents and one brother, Thomas.Jim was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln
and was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed old muscle
cars, working outdoors, and general handyman work.
Memorial donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society and will be received at Holland Barry
and Bennett Funeral Home.
