Lincoln: William E. "Bill" Burris, 77, of Lincoln, passed away at 4:24 P.M. Sunday August 11, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Bill was born on April 26, 1936 in Greensburg, KY, son of Thomas and Ruby Estes Burris. He married Betty Marie Willis on May 11, 1958 in Columbia, KY. She survives of Lincoln.

Also surviving are two children, William C. (Regina) Burris of Sherman, IL, Melissa (Marc) Short of Middletown, IL, one sister Mary Nannen of Green Valley, IL and four grandchildren, Matt (Kerianne) Short of Lincoln, IL, Monica (Bob) Bregar of Mason City, IL, Austin Burris of Sherman, IL, and Lauren Burris of Sherman, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Joe.

He was a member of the Lincoln Southern Baptist Church as well as a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association. He was a retired truck driver.

Services will be held for Bill at 10:00 A.M. Thursday August 15, 2013 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln with Rev. Dennis Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Logan County Calf Scramble or the Lincoln Southern Baptist Church.
