Lincoln- Robert L. Schneider, 83, died at 9:33 a.m. on August 16, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Robert was born in Posey County in Indiana on December 26, 1929 to Alvin and Minnie Renschler Schneider. He was united in marriage to Marita Munyon on December 20, 1952 in Council Bluffs, IA. She survives him in Lincoln. Other survivors include his 3 children: Rebecca (Vardeman) Moore of Dallas, TX; Barbara Schneider also of Dallas, TX; and David (Jennifer) Schneider of Hartsburg. He is also survived by his sister Alice Kurtz of Lincoln; and five grandchildren; Aurelia Moore, Michael Schneider, Sarah Schneider, Robert Griffith Moore, and Timothy Schneider. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Rev. Eugene and Lloyd Schneider, and an infant sister Esther.

The Schneider family moved from Poseyville, IN to Hartsburg, IL in 1946 to avoid the dangers of farming on the Ohio River. Robert farmed all his life in Logan County and he also sold eggs through Schneider Egg Farm until 1993. He was an avid collector of antique tractors, especially International Harvester. He also was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Services for Robert will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Lincoln with Rev. Jan Johnson officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, also at the church. Burial will follow the service at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorials may be made to the St. John's United Church of Christ. Arrangements were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
